Our History
Hope Harbor was founded in late 2010 as an affiliate of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, with a targeted mission to help tackle poverty in the Edmonson Community using a holistic approach. Over the years, we have dedicated ourselves to addressing various aspects of poverty, including providing basic needs, educational support, and access to essential services, all while fostering a sense of community and empowerment among Edmonson residents.
As we approached our second decade of service, the experiences and challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 and 2022 prompted us to reflect deeply on our mission and the evolving needs of our community. The pandemic highlighted existing disparities and created new challenges, particularly in areas such as housing stability, public safety, and support for our senior population. This period of reflection led us to a crucial realization: to truly make a lasting impact, we needed to adapt and expand our focus.
In early 2023, after much consideration and planning, we formally transitioned into Hope Harbor Community Development Corporation (Hope Harbor CDC). This transformation marked a significant milestone in our journey, as we embraced a new mission and vision centered on housing revitalization and community stabilization. Our goal is to address the root causes of community challenges by fostering sustainable development and creating an environment where all residents can thrive.
Hope Harbor CDC is committed to facilitating community improvement projects in collaboration with existing community groups, associations, and stakeholders. We recognize that meaningful change requires a collective effort, and we are dedicated to building strong partnerships to leverage resources, share knowledge, and create a unified approach to community development.
Through these efforts, Hope Harbor CDC strives to create a resilient, inclusive, and vibrant community where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. We are excited about the future and are committed to continuing our legacy of service with renewed purpose and determination
